We built a 20 kWh solar array on a 20-acre off-grid ranch by cutting into a mountainside and creating a terrace for adjustable ground mounts. The system has EMP-hardened inverters, 44 bi-facial panels, and 18 batteries. Total cost was about $120k. We run full house power—washer, dryer, AC—anytime. It’s a luxury off-grid setup with no power bills except a small grid connection fee for backup. Security is key to protect this investment.
