More than 200 identified in outbreak among patrons of restaurant in Alberta

Alberta Health Services (AHS) reports a gastrointestinal outbreak at a restaurant in Saskatoon Farm, Foothills County, Alberta. E. coli and amoebiasis are suspected. As of July 25, 18 lab-confirmed E. coli cases (3 with amoebiasis) and 235 symptomatic individuals have been identified, with 2 hospitalizations. Patrons with symptoms should call Health Link at 811 for testing. Asymptomatic individuals should call after July 30 for amoebiasis screening.
