“Maybe We Ought to Look at This System”: Senate Hearing on Vaccine Injuries Sparks Talk of Reforms

During Tuesday’s Senate hearing, “Voices of the Vaccine Injured,” parents shared emotional testimonies that didn’t change Senator Blumenthal’s view that vaccines are “safe and effective.” However, he suggested reconsidering if pharma companies should be liable for injuries. Referring to the 1986 Vaccine Injury Act, he said, “Maybe we ought to look at this system.” The program often rejects nearly half of claims. He added, “I’m not promising anything.”
