CDC ends bird flu emergency response as infections decline

The CDC has ended its emergency response to avian flu as cases decline. Bird flu updates, now merged with seasonal flu reports, will be posted monthly. While the outbreak that affected people, cattle, and egg prices has slowed, farmers are urged to stay alert for a possible fall resurgence. H5N1 human monitoring continues, but animal infection rates will no longer be shared on the CDC site.
