Canada ranks 14th in the 2025 Global Peace Index, down from 11th in 2024, with a “high” state of peace. Despite the drop, Canada remains the most peaceful country in Central and North America. The report, covering 163 countries, highlights a global decline in peacefulness with 59 active conflicts and rising factors that precede war. The U.S. ranks 128th globally and 12th regionally. Iceland and Ireland top the list with “very high” peace ratings.
