Former National Counterterrorism Center Director Joe Kent says efforts to examine the Butler assassination attempt were repeatedly restricted by the FBI and DOJ because of ongoing investigations. He raises unanswered questions about Thomas Crooks’ electronic devices, possible foreign contacts and other intelligence surrounding the shooting. Kent does not claim to know who, if anyone, was involved, but argues that greater transparency, disclosure and further investigation are needed.
