US sausage maker Johnsonville closes packing site

Johnsonville is closing its Momence, Illinois plant, cutting 274 jobs. Production will shift to newer Wisconsin and Kansas facilities, creating 100 new jobs—75 in Watertown and 25 in Sheboygan Falls. Hiring is underway. Equipment will move to other sites, and the Illinois plant will be sold or demolished by year-end. Johnsonville will invest in expanding “fully cooked” sausage capacity to meet growing demand.
