Nestle Can’t Say Chocolate

Chocolate lovers may be noticing something off this holiday season — and it’s not just your imagination. Due to soaring cocoa prices and falling cacao yields, major companies like Nestlé have quietly reformulated products by reducing cocoa and replacing it with vegetable oils, sugar, and fillers. As a result, candies like Toffee Crisp and Blue Riband can no longer be labeled as chocolate, while Almond Joy, Mr. Goodbar, and Rolo have lost “milk chocolate” claims.
