A whistleblower from Gateway Community Services, Christopher Bernardini, says the company falsified paperwork to bill Maine’s Medicaid program for services that were never provided, NewsNation reports. Bernardini says he was instructed to bill hours even when staff never showed up. The company’s owner, Abdullahi Ali, allegedly ran for office in Somalia’s Jubaland region and claimed to fund a militia there, according to The Maine Wire. Bernardini said the fraud worsened as he raised concerns.
