The July 4th Guadalupe River tragedy was caused by a Mesoscale Convective System, fueled by Tropical Storm Barry’s remnants. It stalled over Central Texas, dumping over 10 inches of rain in some areas. Despite 21 NWS warnings issued, many residents were asleep when flooding hit. 52 are confirmed dead, 37 missing.
