Toxic forever chemicals contaminate drinking water; infant mortality rises near polluted sites

Millions of Americans are drinking water contaminated with PFAS “forever chemicals,” which persist in the body and are linked to cancer, immune disruption, fertility issues and hormone damage. Peer-reviewed research shows higher infant mortality and preterm births near polluted water sources. While regulations are slowly emerging, protections remain limited. Filters like activated carbon and reverse osmosis can reduce exposure, but widespread solutions lag far behind the growing public health risk.
