Researchers at Hiroshima University found that fermented stevia extract selectively kills pancreatic cancer cells while sparing healthy ones, offering hope for a disease with under 10% survival. Fermentation with Lactobacillus plantarum SN13T produces chlorogenic acid methyl ester (CAME), triggering cancer cell death. Though promising, human trials are needed. Stevia also remains a healthy sweetener with minimal blood sugar impact, highlighting plant-based medicine potential.
