Radioactive Fallout Blanketed Nearly the Entire U.S. in Gov’t Nuclear Tests

Between 1951 and 1962, the U.S. government conducted more than 100 above-ground nuclear tests at the Nevada Test Site and other locations, releasing massive radioactive fallout across the country. According to the NIH’s National Cancer Institute, the contamination spread far beyond state borders, exposing millions of Americans to radiation risks that remain a significant public health concern today.
