Protect Yourself From the Dangers of Extreme Heat

Extreme heat can be deadlyโ€”over 700 people die from it each year in the U.S. It can cause heat illness when the body can’t cool itself. Older adults, kids, and people with health conditions are most at risk. Track local heat risk with the CDC Heat & Health Tracker. During extreme heat: stay in AC, drink water, avoid peak sun, wear light clothing, cool off with showers, check on others, and never leave kids or pets in cars. Also watch ozone levels, especially if you have asthma.
