Just a quick thought — in an SHTF situation, don’t overlook scavenging AA and AAA batteries from kids’ toys and small appliances. Besides using them to power your own tools, you can also use them to start fires if needed. As a side note, this works even with smaller batteries — I’ve had success using batteries as small as AA.
