Nova Scotia approves glyphosate spraying on 3,577 acres of drought-stricken, fire-prone forest

Spraying woodlands with herbicides increases flammable material, worsening wildfire risks during droughts that have reduced rivers and water supplies needed to fight fires. Wentworth Provincial Park trails remain closed under Nova Scotia’s wildfire restrictions as of August 5, 2025. Photo credit: Joan Baxter, August 10, 2025. Herbicide use in these conditions could make fires far more dangerous.
