New Listeria outbreak detected; FDA continues work on other investigations

Federal health officials are probing a Listeria monocytogenes outbreak with 25 confirmed cases. The FDA has not identified contaminated foods or begun inspections. Listeria can cause severe, sometimes life-threatening illness, with symptoms like nausea, vomiting, fever, muscle aches, headache, and neck stiffness. Symptoms may appear up to 70 days after exposure, and diagnosis requires lab testing.
