How Will The Ag Economy Climb Out of Its Bottom?

The latest Ag Economist’s Monthly Monitor shows 100% of respondents believe the U.S. ag economy is worse than a year ago—27% say much worse, 73% somewhat worse. After three years of hardship for row-crop producers, economists think the sector may have hit bottom. Grant Gardner of the University of Kentucky says bridging to next year’s improved policy outlook will be key, with $11 cash soybeans and $5 corn needed to offset today’s high input costs and stabilize farm finances.
