Gaming Platform Used by Nearly 36 Million Kids Rolls Out Mandatory Facial Recognition

Roblox is introducing facial age-verification to increase safety on its platform. Users who want to use chat will now scan their face through the app, and a third-party system estimates their age and places them in age groups. Chat will be limited so kids can only interact with users close to their age. Roblox says images are deleted after processing, and the change comes as the company faces pressure and new laws aimed at protecting children online.
