Dear Prepper Watch Members,
We want to bring your attention to a serious issue affecting our nation’s food security.
Smithfield Foods, once a proudly American-owned company headquartered in Virginia, was purchased in 2013 by WH Group, a Chinese multinational meat and food processing giant (formerly known as Shuanghui International Holdings Limited). This means Smithfield is now under foreign ownership, making it one of the most high-profile examples of outside control over our domestic food supply.
Even more concerning — Smithfield operates under many different brand names that most consumers don’t recognize as being connected:
🔹 Farmland
🔹 Armour
🔹 Eckrich
🔹 Nathan’s Famous
🔹 Curly’s
🔹 Gwaltney
🔹 John Morrell
🔹 Margherita
🔹 Cook’s
🔹 Carando
🔹 Kretschmar
This isn’t just a food label issue — it’s a national security concern. In times of crisis, economic instability, or conflict, foreign ownership of critical food infrastructure could put Americans at risk.
Our mission is to keep you informed and empower smart, sustainable, and local choices. Know where your food comes from. Support Canadian and American farmers and domestic producers whenever possible.
We’ll continue tracking developments like this and sharing tools and tips to help you stay food-secure and self-reliant.
🔎 Stay alert. Stay prepared. Stay informed.
