Egg inflation remains stubborn on bird flu and tariff risks

U.S. inflation may have cooled last month but egg prices are still stubbornly high, and there’s no immediate prospect of relief thanks to bird flu and tariffs.

Consumers paid a record $6.227 per dozen on average in March, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics said Thursday. That’s double the cost a year earlier and comes despite a steep decline in what grocery stores are paying suppliers.
