Dried Shark Fins: On February 21, 2025, the FDA updated Import Alert #16-02, titled “Detention Without Physical Examination of All Dried Shark Fins, Dried Fish Maws and Dried Shark Cartilage Powder from Shark Fins Due to Filth.” This alert allows for the detention of these products without physical examination because of contamination issues such as filth. The alert has been expanded to apply worldwide, reflecting ongoing violations.
