Disposable face masks surged during COVID-19, contaminating land and water. Study shows FFPs release 3β4Γ more microplastics than surgical masks, mainly polypropylene (<100β―ΞΌm). Bisphenol B and 1,4-bis(2-ethylhexyl) sulfosuccinate were detected. Findings highlight potential health and environmental risks, informing policy on microplastic and chemical additive exposure from masks.
