At least 27 people are dead after a deadly outbreak of severe storms swept from the Heartland to the East Coast. Kentucky was hit hardest, with 18 fatalities, most in Laurel County. Missouri reported seven deaths, and Virginia two. Victims ranged in age from 25 to 76.
