Abducted Catholic Schoolchildren in Nigeria Escape Captivity

A devastating mass kidnapping in Niger State has left 253 students and 12 teachers still in captivity after armed men abducted 303 people from St. Mary’s School in the remote Papiri community. Authorities say 50 students, ages 10 to 18, managed to escape between Friday and Saturday, though it’s unclear how. Parents have confirmed the numbers through church officials, but the captives’ location remains unknown, and no group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
