5 Free Prepping Hacks You Need Now!

This video explains five completely free prepping items that anyone can make or use from things already at home.

  1. Emergency Heat:
Make a simple heater using a can, a roll of toilet paper (with the cardboard removed), and rubbing alcohol. This “toilet paper stove” can provide temporary heat in emergencies but must never be refueled while still burning.

  2. Emergency Cooking Stove:
Use an empty sardine, tuna, or cat food can filled with alcohol or hand sanitizer for fuel. It can boil water or cook small meals. A smaller pot works best for boiling.

  3. Emergency Light:
Butter can be used as a lamp. Stick Q-tips (with cardboard stems) into the butter as wicks. It won’t give off much light, but it’s useful in darkness.

  4. Free Calories (Wild Harvesting):
Gather free, high-calorie foods from nature such as walnuts, chestnuts, and Jerusalem artichokes. These wild foods are rich in fats and nutrients and often go uncollected.

  5. Free Food Storage Containers:
Reuse bottles like 2-liter soda bottles, 1-gallon water jugs, and Gatorade or cola bottles for long-term dry food storage. Add oxygen absorbers to improve shelf life, though plastic won’t last as long as Mylar bags or mason jars.

The creator also offers free PDFs for proper dry and canned food storage and encourages viewers to share other free prepping ideas in the comments.
