A JAMA Cardiology study by McBride et al shows survival after out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) in King County, WA improved from 14.7% in 2001 to 18.9% in 2020. Survival for shockable rhythms rose from 35% to 47.5%. These gains result from investments in CPR training, wider AED availability, optimized EMS response, and enhanced post-arrest care over two decades.
