On May 1, 2025, a Frio County grand jury indicted six individuals, including public officials, on felony election-fraud charges. After a two-year investigation by Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton’s office, an organized ballot-harvesting scheme was exposed in a heavily Democrat region. Charges include vote harvesting, tampering with evidence, and illegal ballot collection targeting elderly and mail-in voters, punishable by up to 10 years in prison and $10,000 fines.
