Websites

Although Prepping Communities provides the ability for people to post and share prepping information, our primary goal is to enable people to come together and form Prepping Communities. A place to connect, prepare and share information.

We recommend the following websites to obtain more in-depth knowledge about prepping topics. If you would like your website added to this list, let us know by emailing us at support@preppingcommunities.com.

Great Lakes Prepping

This whole thing started as a YouTube channel that I started to share what I’ve learned and how I think about preparedness and problem-solving. I live a DIY philosophy and believe in doing what it takes to live a quality life. Though I don’t proclaim myself an “expert” in any particular thing, I’m a former Boy Scout, a lifelong outdoorsman, hunter, fisherman, and conservationist.

I love cooking, gardening, and being in the forest. I believe there is a lot of crossover between prepping and the things I enjoy doing, which makes me lucky in that building my preps feels more like a hobby than a necessary chore.

I hope you enjoy the information on this site, and I invite you to visit our other digital channels for more great content!

I attempt to cut through the marketing hype and get down to business with clear-cut advice. Rethink:Rural

When people live in the country, you can’t drive down their long, private driveways to peek into their windows and see what their lives are like. But at Rethink:Rural, you can.

We’re here to help those who are searching for a simpler, rural lifestyle to get a firsthand view of what that life could be like. We tell the stories of rural people and share how they found their paradise, what they wish someone had told them before they started, and how they made their land fit their dreams.

Website

Survival Stoic

Survival Stoic aims to help you survive anything life throws at you – physically and mentally.

Hi! My name is Jason Hitchcock, and I founded Survival Stoic after being disappointed by the preparedness and survival information available online.

In 2020, my neighborhood was destroyed by an EF4 tornado. 25 people were killed, 309 were injured, and dozens of homes were lost. I was astonished by how unprepared most of my neighbors were for such an event. The area had no utility service for days, leaving us with no power or drinkable water.

City Prepping

If I’ve learned anything in my own personal journey, helping thousands of other preppers, and listening to the community, it’s this: we need other’s help. As preppers, we face a daunting task of gaining gear and learning skills. But doing it on our own can be difficult and at times, it feels impossible. But what if there were others that could help?

The Prepper Journal

The Prepper Journal is a daily survival blog devoted to a wide variety of preparedness, survival, self-reliance, and personal defense topics for readers who want to protect themselves and their families from seen and unseen disasters in our future. I started the Prepper Journal back in January of 2013, with the goal of helping people become more prepared for life’s curve-balls.

Website

Homestead.org

Maybe it’s just me, but for a long while, I was leery of the unknown entity known as the “prepper.” You probably know the old joke format: I’m a homesteader (sensible, thrifty); you’re a survivalist (fleeing to the country for personal safety); he’s a prepper (building an underground bunker, stockpiling seeds and weapons)..

Prepping To Survive

At PreppingToSurvive, we are always on the look out for members of the prepping, homesteading, and survivalist communities who are willing to share their experiences and knowledge with others. We actively recruit guest posts from others to broaden the perspective that we offer on our site.

Website

Homestead or Dead

Homesteading can quite simply be described as taking the right steps to be responsible for your home and family, but homesteaders seem boring and reclusive. Prepping is planning for the worst case scenarios, but preppers seem reckless and a bit nuts. We love homesteading and prepping and this site aims to break these two topics down in a practical and slightly sarcastic way!

Backdoor Survival

People often ask where my ideas and where my knowledge comes from. When that happens, I chuckle a bit to myself because just like the person asking, my knowledge comes from a variety of sources: first hand experience, books, online forums and of course, Backdoor Survival readers.

So you see, it is not that I am smarter or more clever than everyone else but rather that I have taken my passion for preparedness and made it an active part of my life.

Website

Secrets of Survival.com

Secrets of Survival is a site dedicated to a common sense, practical approach to survival and prepping. In the past decade or so, the rise of the “survival television program” has lead to an explosion in interest in the things that I care the most about, but so much of the information is sensationalized and unnecessary.

Just think about Bear Grylls – he’s former special forces so he definitely knows what he’s talking about, but the stuff he teaches on his show is over the top and not useful. It becomes a case of “how can Bear Grylls get out of this situation” rather than “Here are some useful survival skills you can learn”. This site was started to combat this kind of sensationalism.

Geek Prepper

Thanks to popular media, prepping has garnered a negative reputation.

Preppers are looked at as individuals that are paranoid hoarders at best, and crazy at worst, who are gathering supplies for some imagined apocalypse that might never occur.

While the ones on MTV might be getting ready for a fictional zombie apocalypse, prepping actually isn’t a bad thing for anyone.

Food Storage Moms

Welcome to my blog! I want to get people excited about food storage and emergency preparedness. Those two phrases can tend to be overwhelming to many people.

My main goal is to help you through this without having you feel overwhelmed and to help you see that it can actually be fun! I encourage you to not go out and spend thousands of dollars right away, but to work at it a day at a time.

I want to teach you how to use these items in your everyday life and to incorporate your own food storage into your everyday meals. I only look at the best and most affordable products. I want you to be aware of what is in the food that you are buying and help you to store it correctly.

I do know there are tragic situations that happen to families every day and we want to help you be prepared for whatever may come your way. I am excited to help you get started, so let’s do it together!

Utopia.org

Our mission
Humanity faces severe and ever-increasing environmental and social challenges. Yet, sustainability is still not a top priority for many political or business leaders and most US consumers.

The time to act is not now but yesterday. We are running out of time to save our planet from irreversible damage, the consequences of which we will not truly understand until too late.

At Utopia, we inspire change. We bring together people, organizations and companies to affect real contributions towards a greener world. And, rather than focusing on doom, we advise our readers about how to make small, realistic changes to improve the sustainability of our planet.

Practical Prepping

William Fortschen, well-known post-apocalyptic author, wrote, “We never know when the day before is the day before, so we must plan today for tomorrow.” Our motivation is simple; plan ahead for the expected and the unexpected. We are practicing many of the same principles our ancestors learned, although they never called themselves “preppers”.

Pew Pew Tactical

With a name like that, how can I take you guys seriously? You don’t have to…since we don’t take ourselves seriously either.

There’s enough of that going around in the firearms world, and all we want to do is to help out fellow enthusiasts level up their gun knowledge (while also keeping safe).

Think of us like your gun-obsessed buddy who is really awesome at explaining stuff and doesn’t mind doing whatever it takes.

US Preppers

Welcome and thanks for visiting! My name is Robert and our mission at US Preppers is to help you prepare for emergencies or disasters before they happen. As a family man and father of two boys, I am concerned about the future of our modern way of life. We know things can happen and we are not going to be complacent and let society dictate our survival.

Preparedness Mama

I’m Denali Gillen. I’m the face behind PreparednessMama. As a mother, I tend to worry about whether or not I’m prepared for whatever may come my way. I’d like to know that I could provide for and take care of my family if an emergency should arise. Being prepared is the key to a worry-free life! When you know you have a plan and could execute it in a crisis, it takes a load off your mind!

I live on a farm with my husband and we grow things for a living. Self-reliance is a big part of our lives! We love working hard and watching our hard work pay off. We also love knowing that if we needed to, we could grow what we needed to keep eating.

You know what they say: by failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail.

It doesn’t matter if you’re concerned about losing power in your home during a summer storm or are worried that Doomsday is coming, it’s vital that you begin prepping. When SHTF, do you want to flounder like a big chunk of the population? Yeah, didn’t think so.
