How to Manage Group Members

Once you Create a Group, you become the Group Manager. As such, you now have the ability to manage Group Members.

To manage your Group Members, go to your Group Detail page using the Find Groups Using Text Search or Find Groups Using Maps and then click on the Group Name.

Click the Settings link to display the Group Manager menu items and display the Group Edit page.

Show Group Members

Click on the Members menu item to display the Manage Members page as shown below. A List of Group Members will be displayed. Select the Sort By drop-down menu to sort the list by First Name, Last Name, Oldest and Newest Members.

You can also select the name of the Member to open up a new browser tab showing the Member Details.

Select Member Actions

You can perform actions on Members by fist checking the checkbox beside each Member. A menu will appear above the Member list with active and inactive links. For example below, For this Member you have links to Remove, Suspend and Message this Member. The Active link is disabled because the Member is already Active.

Optionally, you can click the Remove or Suspend/Activate links on the Member list as shown below.

You can also click the Invite Member by Email link on the Member list to invite people using Email to join your Group.

And finally, you can click on the cogwheel icon on the Member list to open a dropdown menu showing links to Send a Message to the Member or Make the Member a Group Manager.

Invite Members by Email

You can invite people to join your Prepping Community Group using Email. This feature is useful when you are just starting a Group and you want to gain Members.

Click on the Invite Members by Email link above. A popup box will appear as shown below.

Enter the Email address of the person you want to send an Invite Email request to. You can enter in up to 10 email addresses using the Add More link. When you are done adding Email addresses, click on the Invite link.

An Email will be sent to everyone on the list asking if they wish to join your Group.

Activate / Suspend Members

You may need to Suspend or Active a Member for any number of reasons. Suspending a Member does not remove them from your Group but only inactivates their membership in your Group so they cannot perform any actions like View other Members, Group Chat, etc.

The Suspend / Activate links are on / off links where if you Suspend a Member, then an Activate link is now shown beside the Member. Likewise, if you click on the Activate link beside the Member, then a Suspend link will be shown. Be careful when Suspending Members and it is good practice to send the Member a Message letting them know why they have been suspended from this Group before doing so.

When you click on the Suspend link a popup box will appear as shown below to confirm the suspension.

Click on the Yes or No link as required.

Remove Group Members

You may need to Remove a Member from your Group. Only Group Managers can remove Members from their Group. Be careful when removing Members from your Group and it is good practice to send the Member a Message before doing so letting them know why they have been removed from your Group.

To remove a Member from your Group, click on the Remove link on the Member list or by clicking the checkmark beside the Member and clicking the Remove link above the list.

When you click on the Remove link a popup box will appear as shown below to confirm the removal.

Click on the Yes or No link as required.

Send Member a Message

To send a Member a Message, click on the cogwheel icon and click the Message link. Optionally, you can send more than one Member a message by clicking on the checkbox for all Members, and then clicking on the Message link above the Member list.

When you click on the Message link a popup box will appear as shown below. Enter your message and click the Send link. The message will be sent to all recipients and show up on their My Profile page under the Messages menu.

Add Group Manager

If you want to allow another Group Member to manage your Group, you can make them a Group Manager. Making a Member a Group Manager enables the Setting link which allows them to see the Group Manager menu items.

To make a Group Member and Group Manager click on the Make Group Manager link as shown below.

When you click on the Make Group Manager link a popup box will appear as shown below. Enter Yes to confirm making that Member a Group Manager..
