Show My Location on Map: Select Yes or No. This gives you the option to display your Profile on the map when other people are looking for other Members in their area. We recommend keeping the default ‘Yes’ (even if you don’t want other people to know your exact location), since you can provide non-identifying ma locations as you require. (see Map Location next).

Map Location: Prepping Communities allows Members to find Other Members and Prepping Community Groups geographically using a map. This is a very powerful feature but may represent a problem for some Members who simply do not want other people to know where they are.

Prepping Communities has taken care of this problem by allowing Members to be shown on a map using a proximity model. Simply put, you do not have to provide an address if you wish not to. The only required fields for showing your Profile on a map is a City/Town, State/Province and Country. All other Map Location fields are optional.

Prepping Communities recommends using a full address for Group Locations. We also recommend using a full address for Members, but using an address of a commercial facility like a store or gas/petro station as close to your real location as you feel comfortable.

NOTE: After adding or changing your Member Map Location, it may take several hours before it is actually updated on a map. This is normal because it takes us time to submit the new location to the map service.
