Watched this video from Redacted and Gen. Mike Flynn. Interesting breakdown on why the Arctic is becoming more important, geopolitics, resources, and shipping routes. It also covers Greenland and icebreakers.

The Arctic really doesn’t get talked about enough. When you step back and look at the resources, shipping lanes, and who actually has the ability to operate there (like icebreakers), it starts to make a lot more sense why it matters. While everyone’s focused on the Middle East, the longer-term competition with China and Russia, especially in the Arctic and Pacific, feels like the bigger picture.

Agree, once you look at the shipping routes, natural resources, and who actually has the infrastructure to operate there, especially icebreakers, it’s clear why China and Russia are so focused on it. It’s about to get very interesting.

Watched it too. The Arctic angle is actually pretty interesting, shipping routes, resources, Greenland, icebreakers… it explains why that region is getting more attention. I’m less convinced war is “imminent,” but the long-term pressure and positioning definitely feels real.

Hey everyone! I came across this video and had to share it. Now that the holidays are over, it’s a great time to start pickling.

If you love pickles, this is an easy watch. Nicole walks through a bunch of simple, quick recipes, from classic dill cucumbers to things like pickled jalapeños, garlic, and even shrimp. Nothing complicated, and definitely better than store bought.

If you’ve ever wanted to try pickling but felt unsure, this video makes it feel doable.

I found this channel on this platform, A Homesteading Journey, and this video really says what a lot of people are feeling. Rising costs, inflation, housing, and unstable jobs are making the American Dream feel out of reach. It’s a long video, but it’s worth watching because it explains why more families are turning to homesteading, frugal living, and self-sufficiency.

A lot of people are feeling this right now and realize the old path isn’t working for many families anymore. Rising costs, housing, and job uncertainty are pushing people to rethink what stability actually looks like and why things like homesteading, frugal living, and self-sufficiency are starting to make more sense.

I agree, this really puts words to what a lot of people are feeling right now. When costs keep rising and stability keeps shrinking, it forces families to rethink what “success” even looks like. Homesteading and self-sufficiency aren’t about escaping life, they’re about we the people regaining some control and resilience.

This is a great video. It explains in a very real way how the system keeps us trapped, and why stepping away, even a little can change how you feel about life. When you start stepping away from the system, even in small ways you actually feel more free. It can feel daunting at first, but this explains really well how the system is designed to keep us trapped through debt, pressure, and constant consumption. Once you see it, it’s hard to unsee it.

Dec 1st we moved away from the city to a small town of just over 7,000 people. The closest major city is about 3 hours away, and the nearest town with all the amenities is 45 minutes out. Since moving here, it honestly feels like stepping back 20 years. Don’t get me wrong, I still have ties to the system – work, bank accounts, all of that, but mentally and spiritually, I’m much calmer. Life feels simpler.

For the first time in a long time, I’m genuinely excited about things like starting my garden this year. I feel like I’m living with more intention instead of just reacting to the grind.

Curious what small changes others have made that helped them feel more free.

Congratulations on the move. I hear this so often, people waking up and seeing the system for what it is.

A lot of people talk about going off-grid, but this video (its a longer one) really changed how I think about it. It’s not just about power or water, it’s about freedom from systems that quietly shape your life. Jeff Burkinshaw from the Gridlessness channel talks about why his family left suburban life for a remote homestead in Canada, not out of fear, but to live more intentionally. Worth watching if you’ve ever felt pulled toward a simpler, more grounded way of living.

I’ll have to watch it. Living off-grid and getting off the system (as much as I can) is something I’ve always dreamed about.

I think that’s the biggest fear for a lot of people is making the leap and then realizing you weren’t as ready as you thought. It’s one thing to plan or daydream about it, and another to actually live it day to day. I think about it daily tho, I think I could really get into living in remote area FAR away from the every day hustle.

I think easing into it makes sense, learning skills, reducing debt, testing things part-time first. If I had a few hundred thousand dollars in my bank account I’d make the move yesterday.
