Yesterday’s currency metals rates per ounce – Gold up 101, Silver up 1.5, platinum up 97, palladium up 20,  rhodium and copper holding steady.   Today’s currency metal rates per ounce (6 hrs left today) – Gold up 45, Silver up 2.35, Platinum up 150, Palladium up 83, Rhodium and copper holding steady.   Gold has broken the $4500 per ounce mark and silver has surpassed the $70 per ounce mark.

Get it while you can, just be careful how you invest it. Nothing over $10k in a purchase, and no denominations over 5 oz pieces.  Silver has been added to the National Strategic Metals listing… this means it can be confiscated. However current mandatory tracking only tracks units of 10oz bars or larger, and $10k or higher purchases.

Keep in mind, increases on precious metals do NOT denote price increases, but rather inflation and devaluing of the dollar.  1 oz of silver or gold today hold roughly the same purchase power it has held for the past 3k years. Silver has lagged behind and is now catching up, but it is also needed for war, so it will surpass it’s innate value soon.

Appreciate you sharing this. The breakdown and context really matter, especially the reminder that this is about currency devaluation, not metals magically “going up.” Totally agree on being careful how you invest, measured moves, understanding the rules, and not rushing in blindly is just as important as owning metals in the first place.

Thanks for laying this out. The reminder that metals are about preserving purchasing power, not chasing price, makes sense. Also appreciate the caution on how to buy, staying thoughtful and disciplined matters just as much as owning metals at all.

We’ve moved away from the city and started buying our meat directly from a local farm, and honestly… the quality doesn’t even compare to the garbage you get at Costco or other big box stores. Not even close. And Canadian farmers are getting squeezed too — not just by the market, but by government policy on top of it.

I watched this video and it explains a lot about why ranchers keep getting squeezed while prices at the store never seem to come down. Tyson shut down one of their biggest beef plants in Nebraska.

When a company that big pulls processing capacity, it doesn’t just disappear into thin air. Ranchers suddenly have fewer places to sell cattle. Families don’t see prices come down at the store. And somehow the company in the middle still does just fine.

Less competition means less resilience. And when things tighten up, it’s always the producers and regular people who feel it first.

Curious what everyone else thinks. If this keeps going, what’s the smart move — buying local beef, stocking freezers, building relationships with ranchers, or something else?

Would love to hear how others are thinking about it.

Buying meat directly from local farmers changes how you see grocery store meat and the quality difference is night and day.

What worries me is exactly what you pointed out, when big players cut processing capacity, it doesn’t hurt them nearly as much as it hurts ranchers and regular families. Prices don’t come down, producers get squeezed, and the middle just keeps winning.

We feel the only option is to buy local and build relationships with farmers feels like one of the few real ways to step outside that system, even if it’s not always easy. Curious to see how others are handling this too.

When capacity gets pulled, it’s never the big players who feel it first, it’s the ranchers and the families buying food. Prices stay high, options shrink, and the squeeze just gets tighter in the middle. Buying local and building those relationships feels like one of the few ways to regain some control, even if it takes more effort. It’s not always convenient, but it feels a lot more resilient than depending entirely on a system that keeps consolidating.

This is exactly why buying local makes so much sense right now. When big processors pull capacity, they barely feel it, but ranchers and families take the hit immediately. Prices stay high, choices get limited, and the system just keeps consolidating.

We have to build relationships with local farmers, buy in bulk when you can, and keep a freezer stocked feels like one of the few real ways to protect ourselves from that squeeze. It takes more planning, but it’s a lot more stable than relying on a system that clearly isn’t built for resilience.

I tried Dutch crunch bread at a friend’s place and I’m still thinking about it.
Yes, it was homemade… and holy crap, it was so freaking good.

Soft and fluffy inside, that crunchy crackly top on the outside, perfect for sandwiches. One of those things where you take a bite and immediately go, “yeah… I need this recipe.”

She sent me the recipe she used, so I’m sharing it here because everyone deserves this bread in their life lol

If you’ve never had Dutch crunch before, trust me, make it!

I’ve never tried Dutch crunch but I’m starting to make my own bread, so this may be a good start:)

Dutch crunch is dangerous once you’ve had it That crackly top with the soft inside is hard to beat. Homemade makes it even better. If you’re already baking bread, this one’s totally worth adding to the rotation.
